The research found that 22% of men and 31% of women experience abdominal cramps, pain or discomfort. Problems usually surface in the 20s and early 30s. Two thirds who experience this common condition say it strikes without warning and a third say they suffer agonizing pain every week. It can strike at any time and is one of the most common causes of absence from work. It can range from mild and uncomfortable to very severe.
